Our Tennessee Wines

You know Merlot, Syrah, and Chardonnay, we want to introduce you to Chancellor, Chambourcin and Seyval. Unlike the classic California varietals, these regional grapes do well in Tennessee’s humid, subtropical climate and our vintners use them to produce award-winning wines. Visiting farms, wineries, and vineyards — sometimes called agritourism — is the pleasurable way to explore and enjoy rural East Tennessee. Wine is an agricultural endeavor, and most of our wineries have large estate vineyards; these winemakers think about growing a bottle of wine. Our Thunder Road History

Thunder Road represented escape from the poverty of rural Appalachia that running “White Lightning” provided.  Fast cars, fearless drivers, and back-woods mountain roads that led to the cities and towns created an American legend – Thunder Road.  Today’s Great Valley Wine Trail takes you across those very roads from Thunder Road in Maynardville to Copper Head Road in Butler, TN.  You’ll discover wonderful Tennessee wines as you experience the real East Tennessee — wild, beautiful, friendly, yet sophisticated.
