Honoring Our History But Looking to the Future

The Winery at Seven Springs Farm has a unique association with Thunder Road. It is located on the original Woods Farm, where the historic Andrew Jacker (AJ) Woods Distillery was located, and where Knoxville legend Edward “Eddie” Harvey is said to have gotten his start in the moonshining underworld. Growing up, Eddie watched his great grandfather, AJ Woods, manufacture whiskey at his four-story Union County distillery, which was located just across the road from our winery.

Our winery is housed in a 3200 sq ft timber framed structure designed and built by Nikki’s father using timber harvested and milled on the farm. Inside, state-of-the-art winemaking facilities were designed by master winemaker Nicole Riddle and her fiancée Michael Coombs to craft wines for the most discerning wine lover. Custom designed stainless steel wine tanks housed in an ultra-modern temperature controlled tank facility are used to produce a variety of unique wines.

Giving Back to the Community

The Heritage Series of Wines – A unique partnership exists with The Winery at Seven Springs Farm and renowned 7th generation Union County painter, Betty Bullen. Winemaker Nikki and Betty have partnered to bring you the Heritage Series of Wines. This wine series, produced exclusively by The Winery at Seven Springs Farm, will feature label art reflecting the rich heritage of Union County. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of the red wine will be donated to Preservation Union County, to aid in the restoration of items of historical significant in the county.

For 2015, we have nine wines to present: Thunder Road Moscato, Royal Blue, Southern Belle, Vineyard White, James’s Giant Peach, Heritage Red, Farmhouse White, Muscadine, and Riesling.

Science in the Vineyard

The Vineyards at Seven Springs Farm were selected for orientation and soils, taking advantage of the microclimate created by the ridgelines forming Hamilton Gap in Combs Ridge. The vineyards receive the first rays of the morning sun coming through the Gap and are shielded from the extreme heat of the afternoon sun by the adjoining ridgeline. It is this attention to detail that pays dividends in the vineyard: reduced disease pressure and warm days/cool evenings resulting in a proper sugar/acid balance in the fruit. The varietals that we have planted are: Nobel Muscadine, Magnolia Muscadine, Traminette, Chambourcin, Catawba, and Sunbelt.

Seven Springs Farm-to-Table

The Winery at Seven Springs Farm is unique in that we also sell Tennessee Farm Products from our family farm. Beef, pork, eggs, juices, fresh produce and U-Pick berries, jellies/jams, and more are available in our winery/store.

Plan a Road Trip to Visit Us

Our 370 acre family farm and winery is only 40 minutes from downtown Knoxville, TN. We are close to beautiful Norris Lake, Big Ridge State Park, and Chuck Swan Wildlife Management Area. The Winery at Seven Springs Farm is one of the newest and most modern wineries in Tennessee. We are the only winery on the Thunder Road Wine Trail that also sells fresh farm produce, farm-raised beef and pork, juices, homemade jams and jellies, and other Tennessee agricultural products. Our winery, tasting area, and farm store are housed in a Timber Frame structure, hand-built by family and friends from timber harvested and milled on our property. Master Winemaker Nikki Riddle has put together a selection of dry, sweet and fruit wines that are expertly crafted to meet her high standards and sure to impress the most discerning of wine lovers.  We would be honored if you could take time to visit and taste our wines.
